Dash and the Lost Voice in the Park
📅 Published on January 8, 2026
✨ Story Summary
Children visit Sound Park where Dash loses his voice, meet a five-armed creature named Mumbo, and free trapped voices from a stone guarded by the Quiet Monster.
Dash was running around the garden with his friends. "Catch me if you can!" he shouted, zooming past Ziggy, Lily, and Skye.
"Wait for us!" called Ziggy, jumping up and down.
Lily put her hands on her hips. "No fair, Dash! You're too fast!"
Skye sat on the grass, watching her friends run. She yawned a little bit.
Tom, Dash's daddy, was sitting on a bench. "Be careful, Dash! Don't run too fast near the rose bushes!"
Mia, Dash's mommy, added, "Yes, sweetie, watch where you're going!"
Suddenly, they heard a familiar sound. CIUFFFF CIUFFFF!
"It's Toby!" shouted all four children together.
The magical blue train appeared, puffing white clouds. Toby the Magic Train stopped in front of them and said:
"Hello friends, both big and small,
Today we'll go where echoes call!
Where sounds can play and voices ring,
Come aboard and hear them sing!"
"Yay!" The children climbed onto the train. Dash sat in front because he loved to see where they were going. Ziggy bounced on his seat. Lily held onto the side, and Skye sat quietly, looking out the window.
WHOOOOSH! The train started moving faster and faster. The garden disappeared. They passed through fluffy pink clouds, then purple ones, then golden ones!
"Look!" said Dash, pointing ahead. "Everything is sparkly!"
They arrived in a strange place. It wasn't like any park they knew. The trees were silver, and their leaves made tinkling sounds like tiny bells. TING TING TING! The grass was blue and soft like a blanket.
"Wow!" said Ziggy, jumping off the train.
But when Dash opened his mouth to say something... nothing came out! He tried again. Still nothing!
"Dash?" asked Lily. "Why aren't you talking?"
Dash touched his throat. His eyes got big and worried. He tried to shout but no sound came out at all!
"Oh no!" said Skye softly. "Dash lost his voice!"
Ziggy jumped up. "We need to find it!"
Just then, they heard crying. "Wahhh! Wahhh!"
Behind a silver tree sat a very strange creature. It had three bright yellow eyes, five arms (three on one side, two on the other), and one long purple tail with a fluffy tip. Its body was round and green like a big apple.
"Hello," said Lily bravely. "Why are you crying?"
The creature looked up with all three eyes. "I'm Mumbo! I live here in Sound Park. But something terrible happened! The Voice Keeper is gone!"
"Voice Keeper?" asked Ziggy, tilting his head.
Mumbo nodded, making his purple tail swish. "The Voice Keeper keeps all the voices safe in Sound Park. Without it, voices get lost! Your friend's voice must be floating somewhere around here!"
Dash's eyes got even bigger. He pointed at himself and then around the park, looking worried.
"Don't worry, Dash!" said Lily. "We'll find your voice!"
Mumbo stood up on his two fuzzy feet. "I'll help! But we must hurry. If we don't find it before the silver bells stop ringing, it might float away forever!"
The children looked at each other. This was scary! But they had to help their friend.
"Where do we look first?" asked Skye.
Mumbo used two of his five arms to point in different directions. "Voices love to hide in special places. They might be in the Whispering Cave, or maybe floating with the Bubble Birds, or perhaps stuck in the Silence Stone!"
"Let's go!" said Ziggy, already starting to run.
"Wait!" called Mumbo. "We need to listen carefully. Dash's voice will sound like him, but it might be very quiet."
They walked through the strange park. The blue grass felt bouncy under their feet. BOING BOING with each step!
First, they came to the Whispering Cave. It was dark inside.
"I'm scared," said Skye, holding Lily's hand.
"It's okay," said Lily. "We're together."
They went inside. The cave walls were covered in soft moss that glowed pale green. They could hear whispers everywhere. "Shhh shhh shhh..."
"Hello? Dash's voice?" called Ziggy.
They heard many whispers but none sounded like Dash. Dash shook his head sadly.
"Not here," said Mumbo, his three eyes blinking. "Let's try the Bubble Birds!"
They left the cave and walked up a small hill. At the top, they saw the most amazing sight! Hundreds of birds made of bubbles were floating in the air. They were see-through and shimmery, like soap bubbles with wings!
POP! One bubble bird burst near them, and they heard a voice say "Good morning!"
POP! Another burst. "Time for lunch!"
"Those are lost voices!" explained Mumbo. "The Bubble Birds catch them and carry them around."
Dash ran under the Bubble Birds, looking up hopefully. He jumped and tried to catch them, but they floated too high.
"We need to pop them to hear the voices," said Lily.
Ziggy found a long stick. "I can reach them!"
He poked at the bubbles. POP! "Lalala!" POP! "Goodbye!" POP! "I love cookies!"
But none were Dash's voice. Dash sat down on the blue grass, looking very sad.
"Don't give up!" said Skye, patting his shoulder.
Mumbo's tail drooped. "There's only one place left. The Silence Stone. But... it's guarded by the Quiet Monster."
The children looked at each other. A monster sounded very scary!
"We have to try," said Lily firmly. "For Dash!"
They followed Mumbo down a path made of white pebbles that didn't make any sound when they stepped on them. Everything got quieter and quieter as they walked.
Soon they saw it - a huge black stone, as tall as a house! And in front of it sat the Quiet Monster.
But the monster wasn't scary at all! It was fuzzy and gray, like a giant teddy bear, with long floppy ears and tiny little arms. It had two green eyes and no tail. It was sleeping, making soft snoring sounds. "Zzzz... zzzz..."
"Shh!" whispered Mumbo. "If we wake it up, it gets very grumpy and makes everything completely silent for hours!"
They tiptoed closer to the black stone. Dash could see something glowing inside it - little lights floating around like fireflies!
"The voices are trapped inside!" whispered Lily.
But how could they get them out without waking the monster?
Skye had an idea. She whispered very quietly, "What if we sing a lullaby? Maybe it will sleep deeper?"
"Good idea!" whispered Ziggy.
They all sang very softly:
"Sleep, sleep, fuzzy friend,
Dream until the day's end..."
The Quiet Monster smiled in its sleep and rolled over. "Mmmmm..."
Dash quickly ran to the stone. He touched it with both hands. The stone felt cold and smooth.
Suddenly, cracks appeared where he touched it! Light started coming out!
CRACK! The stone split open just a little bit.
Voices flew out like colorful butterflies! Red ones, blue ones, yellow ones! They swirled around Dash's head.
"Quick, Dash!" whispered Mumbo, waving three of his arms. "Call your voice! Think about something you love to say!"
Dash closed his eyes tight. He thought about running fast, about playing with his friends, about his mommy and daddy.
One golden voice-butterfly flew down and went right into Dash's mouth!
"I GOT IT!" Dash shouted happily.
Oh no! His shout woke up the Quiet Monster!
The monster opened its green eyes and stood up. It was very tall! It looked down at the children.
"WHO WOKE ME UP?" it boomed.
The children hugged each other, frightened.
But then the monster saw all the freed voices flying around. Its grumpy face changed to a happy one.
"Oh my! The voices are free! I've been guarding that stone for so long, I forgot why! Thank you, little ones!"
The Quiet Monster did a happy dance, making the ground shake a little. THUMP THUMP THUMP!
"You're not angry?" asked Lily.
"Not at all! I'm free now! I can go visit my cousin, the Loud Monster, who lives in Music Mountain!"
Mumbo jumped up and down on his fuzzy feet, all three eyes sparkling. "You did it! You saved Sound Park!"
"And I can talk again!" said Dash, running in circles. "Talk, talk, talk! Listen to me talk!"
Everyone laughed.
CIUFFFF CIUFFFF!
Toby the Magic Train appeared on the path.
"Time to go, my brave young friends,
Our adventure sadly ends.
You found what once was lost from sight,
By working together with all your might!"
"Goodbye, Mumbo!" called the children as they climbed aboard.
"Goodbye! Thank you!" Mumbo waved all five arms at once.
The Quiet Monster waved its tiny arms too. "Come back anytime! But maybe knock first!"
WHOOOOSH! The train took them through the colored clouds again. Pink, purple, golden, and then... they were back in the garden!
Tom ran over. "Dash! Where were you? One moment you were here, then you disappeared!"
"Daddy, we went on an adventure! I lost my voice but we found it!" Dash said excitedly.
Mia hugged him. "Oh my! That sounds like quite a story!"
The four friends looked at each other and smiled. They knew it was real, even if the grown-ups might not believe them.
"Let's play more!" said Dash. "I want to use my voice lots and lots!"
"Yes!" agreed Ziggy, Lily, and Skye.
They ran off to play, and Dash talked the whole time, happy to have his voice back.

**The Lesson:** When we lose something important, we shouldn't give up. With the help of good friends and by working together, we can solve even scary problems. Being brave doesn't mean not being scared - it means helping others even when we are scared. And sometimes, things that seem frightening (like the Quiet Monster) turn out to be not so bad after all!
