The Maze of Little Magic

The Maze of Little Magic

✨ Story Summary

The children travel by magic train to a green maze where they help a little girl named Luna find her lost teddy bear by working together as a team.

It was a somewhat grey afternoon, one of those when the clouds seem covered in wool. The light rain had just stopped falling, and in the air you could smell that lovely scent of wet earth.

Ale was in the garden together with Violet, Ellie, and Lori. The four friends were watching Ale's cats playing with each other: Sophie, the black kitten, was rolling on the wet grass. Dora, the brave tabby one, was trying to catch a leaf. Poldo, nice and round, was sleeping under a bush. And Milo, the most agile, was jumping from one side to the other like an acrobat.

"Look at Milo!" shouted Ale, hopping about. "He made such a high jump!"

"I want to jump like that too!" said Lori, and he began jumping on the spot very fast.

Violet was observing everything with her blue eyes, arms crossed. "Cats are clever," she said with a confident voice, "but I want to do something new."

Ellie yawned slightly. She was calm as always, sitting near her mummy Elisa who was stroking her hair.

Right at that moment, from the grey clouds came a golden ray of sunshine. And together with the sun, came a sound that the children knew well.

"CHUFF CHUFF!"

From the bottom of the garden appeared Toby the Magic Train! He was red and shiny, with golden wheels spinning merrily. He stopped in front of the children, puffing out little clouds of coloured smoke that smelled of mint.

"Hello children, are you ready to go?" said Toby with his gentle voice. "A green maze is waiting for you to play!"

"A maze!" exclaimed Ale, already ready to run.

Max, Ale's daddy, smiled calmly. "Have fun, and stay together."

Grace, Ale's mummy, gave her little boy a big hug. "Come back soon, my darling."

The four friends climbed onto the magic train, and even Milo, the agile cat, jumped aboard with an elegant leap.

"CHUFF CHUFF!"

Toby the Magic Train set off, crossing clouds as soft as whipped cream. The sun was now playing hide and seek among the little white clouds, appearing and disappearing like a mischievous child.

After a little while, the train stopped in front of something incredible: an enormous maze made entirely of green bushes! The bushes were as tall as two daddies standing one on top of the other, and the leaves sparkled with water droplets.

"The maze awaits you, don't be afraid," said Toby. "Follow your heart, you'll find the adventure!"

The children got off with their eyes wide open. Milo jumped down too, sniffing the air with curiosity.

"It's huge!" said Lori.

"What if we get lost?" asked Ellie, squeezing Ale's little hand.

Ale smiled and looked at his friends. "We're together! We'll never get lost."

Violet nodded with determination. "Ale is right. Let's go!"

They entered the maze. The bushes were so tall that you couldn't see anything beyond them. There were so many paths, so many crossings. The children walked close together, looking around.

At one point, Ale heard a strange sound. It was music, but not like the kind from the radio. It was sweet, delicate, like many little notes dancing in the air.

"Can you hear that?" he whispered.

Everyone stopped to listen.

The music was coming from behind a bush. The children approached cautiously, and when they turned the corner, they saw something wonderful.

On a leaf as big as a saucer, there was a cricket! But it wasn't a normal cricket. A cricket is a green insect, small, with long thin legs. But this cricket was special: he rubbed his little legs together, and out came beautiful music, just like a violin. A violin is a musical instrument played with a bow, and it makes very sweet sounds.

The cricket had an emerald green body, shiny like a gem, and wore a tiny hat made of rose petals. He smelled of honey and wildflowers.

"Good day, little travellers," said the cricket with a wise and gentle voice, stopping his playing. "My name is Theodore, and I am the guardian of this maze."

"Hello Theodore!" said Ale. "What beautiful music!"

Theodore smiled. He was a wise cricket, like a grandfather who has lived many adventures. He spoke calmly and seemed to know many things.

"Thank you, little friend," he replied. "But today my music is a bit melancholy."

"Melancholy?" asked Violet, tilting her head. "What does that mean?"

Theodore lowered his thin antennae. "Melancholy means a little sad, but in a gentle way. Like when you think of something beautiful that's no longer there."

"Oh," said Ellie. "Like when a party ends?"

"Exactly so, wise child," nodded Theodore.

"But why are you melancholy?" asked Lori.

Theodore sighed and pointed with a little leg towards the centre of the maze. "In the heart of this maze, there's a little girl who's crying. Her name is Luna, she's three years old, and she's lost her teddy bear. She left it in a hidden corner, and now she can't find it anymore."

Ale felt his heart tighten. He thought about how sad he would be if he'd lost something precious.

"We have to help her!" he said immediately.

"But the maze is enormous," said Violet, looking around worried. "How can we find the teddy bear?"

"And where is this Luna?" added Ellie.

Theodore jumped onto Ale's shoulder. "I will guide you to Luna. But to find the teddy bear, you'll need to work together. Each one of you must do their part, even the smallest one."

The children looked at each other. They were ready.

They followed Theodore through the maze. The cricket hopped ahead of them, and every now and then he played a little note to show the right way. Milo the cat walked beside Ale, with his ears pricked up and his eyes alert.

After many turns, they arrived in a small clearing in the centre of the maze. There, sitting on a rock, was a little girl with blonde hair and eyes red from crying. She was clutching a handkerchief in her hands.

"Luna?" said Ale gently. "We're here to help you."

Luna looked up. "My teddy bear... Horace... I've lost him! He was my best friend. We were playing hide and seek, and he hid too well."

"Hide and seek?" said Lori. "I'm really good at finding people who hide!"

"But the maze is too big," sobbed Luna. "I'll never manage."

Violet came closer and took her hand. "You're not alone. There are four of us, plus Milo and Theodore. We'll find Horace together."

Ale looked at his friends. "We need to think. Luna, where did you and Horace play?"

Luna thought about it. "Near... near a bush with pink flowers. Then he ran away."

Theodore spoke up: "I know that bush. It's in the most tangled part of the maze, where the passages are narrow and dark."

The children felt a shiver. The most tangled part? The dark one?

But Ale clenched his fists. "It doesn't matter. Let's go!"

They set off. As they went forward, the maze became different. The bushes were thicker, the leaves darker. The sunlight struggled to get through.

Ellie moved closer to Ale. "Ale, I'm a bit scared."

"Me too," admitted Ale. "But we're together, and together we're stronger."

Violet walked in front, determined. "I'll watch where we put our feet."

Lori ran back and forth, searching among the bushes. "Horace? Horace where are you?"

At one point, Milo stopped suddenly. His ears went up, and he began meowing loudly towards a dark corner.

"Milo has found something!" shouted Ale.

They all ran towards the cat. Milo was staring at a very narrow space between two bushes. It was so small that no adult could have fitted through.

"I'll go in!" said Lori, who was the fastest and slimmest.

He squeezed into the narrow passage. It was all dark in there. Lori felt his heart beating hard. What if he didn't find anything? What if he got stuck?

But then, at the end, he saw something. Two little button eyes shining in the dark.

"Horace!" he shouted happily.

He grabbed the teddy bear and crawled back. When he came out, all the children cheered.

"Hurray for Lori!" shouted Ale.

"We did it!" said Violet.

But Lori shook his head and smiled. "No, we all did it. Violet was the guide, Ellie gave me courage by staying close, Ale had the idea to ask Luna, and Milo found the hiding place."

They went back to Luna and gave her Horace. The little girl hugged her teddy bear so tight it seemed she never wanted to let him go.

"Thank you!" she said with shiny but happy eyes. "Thank you friends!"

Theodore hopped onto a leaf and played a cheerful melody. "You see, children? Each one of you did something. Something small, perhaps. But all those small things, put together, made something really big."

At that moment, the sky above the maze opened up. The clouds went away, and a dark blue sky full of stars appeared. But they weren't normal stars: they were shooting stars! They fell slowly, leaving golden trails.

"Make a wish!" said Luna.

Each child closed their eyes and wished for something in their heart.

Right then, the familiar sound arrived.

"CHUFF CHUFF!"

Toby the Magic Train appeared between the bushes, shiny and smiling.

"Brave children, what a lovely day!" said Toby. "You found the teddy bear and gave happiness!"

The children said goodbye to Luna, Theodore and Horace, then climbed onto the train.

While Toby was taking them home, the shooting stars kept shining above them. Milo curled up next to Ale, purring.

When they arrived in Ale's garden, all the parents were waiting for them.

Grace ran to hug Ale. Max smiled calmly. Andrew made a joke: "You've come back in one piece? How lovely, so I don't have to buy new ones!" Elisa stroked Ellie saying: "What a good girl you've been." Daddy Luke lifted Violet into his arms. Martha checked she was okay. Christina hugged Lori, and Frederick said: "I hope you were careful!"

That evening, while Ale was in bed with Sophie curled up at his feet, he thought about the adventure he'd had. He thought about how every small gesture, even the smallest one, had helped find Horace.

And he understood something important.

**The moral of the story:**

Children, did you see? Ale had an idea, Violet was the guide, Ellie gave courage, Lori went into the narrow passage, and Milo found the hiding place. Nobody did everything alone. Each one did something small, but together they did something big! Remember: even a small gesture can make a big difference. Like a smile, a hug, or helping a friend. You don't need to do enormous things to be special. You just need to do your part, with all your heart.
